More and more snaps are being created monthly! For those that may not know, Snaps are a new way for developers to package their apps, bringing with it many advantages over the more traditional package formats such as .deb, .rpm, and others. Snaps are secure, isolated and allow apps to be rolled back should an issue occur. Snaps really are the future of Linux application packaging.

We’ve selected 10 of our favourites Desktop snaps that were added to the store in July that include everything from 3D creation suites to old fashioned games. Check out the list below!

We’ve selected 10 of our favourites for July!

  • VLC – The VideoLAN project’s media player
  • Atom-cwayne – code editor (install with –dev-mode)
  • Blender-tpaw – 3d creation suite
  • qownnotes – cross-platform open source plain-text file notepad
  • cpustat – periodic cpu utilization stats
  • darktable-kyrofa – photography app
  • dash-shell – POSIX-compliance shell
  • drmips – a graphical simulator of the MIPS processor
  • explode bricks – old fashioned game
